The Internet is filled with dubious programs that fail to live up to their claims. Many of these apps supposedly can make your computer faster or more powerful. In most instances, using these system optimization apps result in a less than pleasing experience. Internet users should be careful because some of these apps are considered Potentially Unwanted Programs or PUPs, and they may not be reliable programs that deliver what they state. What’s more, they could also come through questionable means.

In many cases, the user may inadvertently download PUPs because they tend to come packaged with other downloaded freeware. That’s why it might seem that you suddenly encounter an application on your computer that you don’t remember installing. Although PUPs may not be as dangerous as a Trojan infection, they may cause certain system issues.

As a result of having PUPs on your computer, you may receive unwanted pop-up advertisements. These ads may promote questionable content that can include hoax websites, fake giveaways, shady online gaming or betting platforms, and more.

One of such apps reported by computer users is called ClientPcSpeedup. ClientPcSpeedup offers to make users’ computers faster, more efficient, and far less likely to experience system error.

PUPs like ClientPcSpeedup may be bundled in shady software packages offered by freeware sites. Some of the changes associated with PUPs you may notice on your computer include changes to the current homepage, new tab page, and default search engine. PUPs may also collect information relating to Internet browsing activity including a user’s IP address, and geolocation for online marketing purposes. The collected browsing information could be sent to third parties for various purposes. Thus, based on the user’s browsing habits, PUPs may deliver targeted advertisements that seem tailored to the user’s interests.

How Do I Remove ClientPcSpeedup?

We strongly recommend removing PUPs like ClientPcSpeedup by employing the use of a reputable malware remediation tool. To prevent the installation of any other potentially unwanted programs like ClientPcSpeedup in the future, you should practice safe web browsing habits by avoiding questionable freeware sites, torrent pages, and other websites that may host unreliable software.
