What is the "Uniswap ($UNI) Airdrop" Crypto Drainer?

The fake "Uniswap ($UNI) Airdrop" scam is a fraudulent scheme designed to steal cryptocurrency from victims' wallets. Promoted on deceptive domains like app.uniswapweb-launch[.]org, the scam masquerades as an official airdrop campaign for Uniswap's governance token, UNI. The fraudulent page claims to offer tokens from a pool of ten million UNI tokens to users who connect their wallets.

Once a victim links their wallet and signs a malicious contract, the scammers gain access to their cryptocurrency funds, which are quickly drained and transferred to the scammers' wallets. Due to the anonymous and irreversible nature of cryptocurrency transactions, victims are unable to recover their lost funds.

How Does the Scam Operate?

  1. Fake Airdrop Website: Scammers create fake websites mimicking the official Uniswap platform.
  2. Wallet Connection: Users are urged to connect their digital wallets to check eligibility for the supposed airdrop.
  3. Malicious Contract: Victims unknowingly sign a harmful smart contract that grants the scammers access to their wallet.
  4. Funds Drained: The scam’s drainer functionality transfers funds to the attackers' wallet.
