In the ever-evolving landscape of online scams, a new threat has emerged— the “Claim Manta” cryptocurrency giveaway scam. This deceptive scheme preys on unsuspecting users, enticing them with promises of free cryptocurrency through a fraudulent MANTA giveaway (airdrop). However, beneath the guise of generosity lies a sophisticated ploy to drain victims of their hard-earned cryptocurrency.

Understanding the “Claim Manta” Scam

1. Deceptive Promotion: Scammers promote the scam through posts on social media platforms, particularly X (formerly Twitter). These posts, often created using stolen or fake accounts, contain links that lead users to a deceptive website.

2. Fake MANTA Giveaway: The fraudulent website claims to offer a legitimate MANTA giveaway, enticing users with the promise of earning commissions in BB or ETH. The scam outlines referral programs that supposedly reward users for claiming and purchasing during the presale.

3. Referral Commissions Scheme: The scammers employ a referral commissions scheme, promising a 30% commission to individuals acting as referrals. Victims are led to believe they can earn commissions not only from claiming but also from their referrals’ participation in a Swap Airdrop.

4. Malicious Contract Approval: To participate in the supposed giveaway, users are prompted to connect their wallets. However, this is a trap. By approving a malicious contract, victims unknowingly activate a drainer that transfers their cryptocurrency funds to the scammers’ controlled wallet.

5. Irreversible Loss: Unfortunately, the irreversible nature of cryptocurrency transactions means that victims lose their funds permanently. Recovering stolen cryptocurrency becomes nearly impossible once the transaction is executed.

Protection and Prevention

1. Stay Informed:

2. Scrutinize URLs:
Check the authenticity of URLs by ensuring they match the official domain of the cryptocurrency project. Avoid clicking on links from untrusted sources.

3. Wallet Security:
Never approve unknown or suspicious contracts with your cryptocurrency wallet. Understand the actions associated with each contract approval.

4. Report Scams:
Report fraudulent activities to the relevant authorities and social media platforms to help prevent further victimization.

5. Educate Yourself:
Stay informed about common online scams and phishing tactics. Educate others in your network to enhance collective cybersecurity awareness.

In conclusion, the “Claim Manta” cryptocurrency giveaway scam serves as a reminder to exercise vigilance and skepticism online. By staying informed, scrutinizing URLs, securing your wallet, reporting scams, and educating others, you contribute to a safer online environment for yourself and the wider community.
